XBOXFamily writer AcFreeze got the popular band The Xbox Boys away from their mission to 'fulfill the wishes of the Orb' for a quick interview before they got back to rocking the Xbox Community. What we found out may surprise you. These guys are about a lot more than just great music. They're following their destiny. In your own words, who are The Xbox Boys? I would say the X Box Boys are four guys that formed a passion for the X Box, play allot, then simply started playing together all of the time. We then started writing some songs and put our funds together for the video. We never wanted fame or money. We never knew that the X Box Boys would ever amount to anything at all. It’s just a world we live in. Where the flesh does not matter, the look does not matter, it’s just about a world of gaming where you can log in and be someone else. We write for people that were born to early.
What exactly is the "Orb Prophecy"? This is what people don't understand or get. The Orb has been around forever and ever. Some say since the beginning of time itself. It’s been handed down and down through the centuries and finally ended up with Grandfather. The Orb reveals intentions and things that have not come to pass yet. The final dream the Orb gave Grandfather was very simple. Find four who could uphold gaming integrity and fulfill the wishes of Microsoft by providing the games and console world-wide. You've already released two songs to the public that have garnered some pretty high praise from the xbox community; one being the hard driving "Kill Raam". What drove The Xbox Boys to write a song about Raam [on insane]? Basically, I was sitting there with B-box one night and we both looked at each other and laughed because this was the 50th time I was going to try and kill him by myself on insane. Anyone can kill him with a partner, but to do it by yourself is crazy. As the birds came into me and chewed me up for the 50th time I just looked at him and said "I bust a cap in his head with the longshot and crossbow, 50 times the punk he won’t go". We then both smiled and within 5 minutes we drafted "Kill Raam".
With a growing fanbase of xbox gamers around the country (and the world), are there any plans for a tour so fans can see The Xbox Boys in person? Again, we would love to do shows. I would agree to do a gaming expo or something but everyone at Microsoft that supports us tells us to not make any money at this. Its crazy because they are loosing too. We heard from many at X Box in Kirkland that it takes Microsoft years to make a decision, so we are just praying that something breaks and they allow us to fulfill the prophecy.
What future songs can Xbox Boys fans expect in the near future? We have a song called "Rainbow Six" written about the game Rainbow Six which was not easy to beat in my opinion on the difficult setting, but I did it. It should be up on myspace shortly. I wrote it in a way to appeal to the creators of the upcoming movie "Rainbow Six". We are hoping to get the song on the soundtrack. We are also working on a song that is really good for Halo three. Its so good we have been offered money for it already. We are spending allot of time combing the song in the studio.
Video games in general have become more main stream, meaning that there's probably a lot of female fans out there who want to know if The Xbox Boys are available. Are there Mrs.-boxes and how do they feel about the Orb prophecy? They think the Orb prophecy sucks! Matter of fact, they think that its crazy that we are doing this at all. P-box and Beat-Box are married, but B-Box and D-Box are available. Fans will notice when they visit your website that you'd like to get the attention of Mr. Bill Gates. What exactly would you tell Bill if he was reading this right now? I would like to say that time is short. I’ve passed Bill on the freeway in his SUV maybe a dozen times and once he even waved, which was cool. I also used to burn by his private dock at the house and even once parked there only to have three guys in sweats running after us. "Run you little s***" as we burned away in our boat. All I can say is that was your own grandfather that was the "keeper of the Orb" for many years. Please endorse us, what have you got to loose? The Xbox Boys seem to have a great future ahead of them, but just like any band, they need the support of their fans. So when you get a chance, swing by the website or even pop on the official MySpace page to see what they have in the works. XF will also have a featured article this Monday with even more details about the band, their backgrounds and how you can get The Xbox Boys music on your Zune.
