From Major Nelson: Game demos, trailers, and other video content distributed over Xbox LIVE are considered advertising and in accordance with the ESRB’s Principles and Guidelines for Responsible Advertising Practices Xbox LIVE members under 18 do not have access to demos or trailers for a title rated M (Mature) or RP (Rating Pending.) ESRB Guidelines are industry wide and are not unique to Xbox LIVE. In other words, these are the rules that all online console stores, like the Wii Shop Channel and the Playstation Store, need to adhere to in order to in be in line with the ESRB’s Guidlines. XF’s Take: While Major Nelson would rather explain it his way a point the finger at the ESRB as the bad guy, the fact is if you’re a minor, you shouldn’t be downloading this stuff. If the ESRB didn’t require some kind of content monitoring, I’d hope XBL would do it anyways.

Why can't I download Ninja Gaiden 2 Mom? Cause you're 8 Timmy. Minors have been complaining that some content is unavailable for download on XBLM because the ESRB or film board rating prevents it. That’s the point. Continues after the jump:
