Sales for Microsoft's Xbox 360 have increased in the latest Japan retail tally. Media Create Company on Friday reported that the Xbox 360 sold 4,208 units between July 14 and July 20, an increase from 3,807 units the week prior. ...
But it should be noted that the 360 did not rank any titles in the top 50 game sales for the week. And while the increase is nice, it's nothing more than a minor splash.
Square Enix Co. this month announced that Final Fantasy XIII will be released to the Xbox 360. It did not disclose a Japan release for the title.
Microsoft held a setback in U.S. hardware sales this month as Sony's PS3 claimed sales 84 percent above the Xbox 360 in June.
The hardware sold 219,800 units for the month to rank behind the PS3 and Nintendo Co.'s Wii. This month, Microsoft price cut the 20GB Pro model by $50 to $299.99 in hopes of clearing out the now discontinued SKU. MS will sell a new 60GB model for $349.99 this fall.
