All three SKUs received price reductions last weekend, with the Arcade unit being the cheapest current generation console at £129.99.
Talking to gamesindustry.biz, Chart-Track announced that sales were up 32% the weekend of the price reduction, whereas PlayStation 3 sales were down 8% in the same period.
Microsoft plans to release more titles for the casual demographic before the end of the year, along with a new dashboard update.
Was Microsoft wise to hold off on a price reduction? It appears to be paying off now. The $199.99 (£129.99) is well-known as the magic number. With MS heading into the holidays with the magic number, this Christmas season could decide the console war for good here in North America and possibly overseas.
