Bad news Fischer fans. Ubisoft has officially delayed Splinter Cell: Conviction until its 2009-2010 fiscal year, after several media outlets had reported so back in May of this year. ...
The next installment in the popular stealth series will now be released sometime between April 2009 and March 2010. Previously it had a release date before Q1 2009. A few months back Xbox World 360 magazine reported that the game had been taken "back to the drawing board" and pushed back into the festive period of 2009 - or as late as spring 2010. Looks like they hit the nail on the head. The original version was set to have a series star Sam Fisher go proper rogue, hiding amongst the street crowds and tackling police, Jason Bourne style. According to XBW it's likely that the decision was made after Conviction was outdated by more recent gaming developments - most notably Ubisoft's own Assassin's Creed. At least they're not rushing it out the door. Delays can hurt fans, but if it makes for a better game, it's worth it.
