Microsoft is finally offering a solution for all those folks who have downloaded XBL games and had to tackle the DRM nightmare when changing consoles...

After what seemed like an eternity of complaints from Xbox 360 gamers, Microsoft has finally released a tool to get your Live downloads working on your 360 even if it wasn't the console you originally downloaded them with.

Users have been complaining since the console's release that, if your 360 snuffs it and you replace it, or upgrade to an Elite, all your downloads from your original console will only work on the new machine while it is connected to Live.

If you were not connected to XBL, the games were downgraded to the demo versions. This became a particular problem for those whose consoles broke a lot. And that was just about everybody.

The root of all this was Microsoft's anti-piracy DRM (Digital Rights Management), but the new Content License Transfer Tool will allow gamers to re-download (or essentially fully unlock) all their downloaded content, including XBLA games and add-on DLC, for use on their new console online and off.
