Page 2 of 2 For those of you wondering about buying a cooling system or not, i got an idea that you might want to try instead. We all know that giving your 360 lots of spaces helps a bunch, but what else can we do that wont cost us money?Well lets look at how the 360 gets its air intake first. The top has vent, and the bottom has a vent along with small vents on the sides. If you 360 is layed horizontal or vertical it will either get most of its air from the top or bottom of the system (top being where the HDD is and the bottom being on the other side). Both sides does something that not helpful to your system. horizontal puts your motherboard side facing the floor and will heat up the that side of the 360 thus keep the motherboard nice and hot. vertical almost cut the bottom air flow off completely (1mm feet dont do much). So by just extending the feet of your 360 can can change this for either side. I am testing it right by, i extended the feet of my 360 by putting a book under the 360 and then rising the feet by using 4 bars of unopen soap (only thing i could find that i had 4 off and the same size, hard enough to take the weight). This should give more air flow to now both sides and keep the heat coming off the motherboard side room to vent. here is a really dark and crappy pic to explain but it will give you the idea. I changed the way the soap was facing to open more of the sides vents. So far the systems been on and running a game for about 20 mins and it feels cool, i'll update again after another hour of so. (this will be compared to last night after playing the 360 i noticed the back air was really warm and the top vent to was really sucking a lot of air down so i thought i try this to see if it changes anything). I got no plans of buying a cooling system and i dont think the sysetm overheating is a problem, but i wanted to test this theroy out to see if it helps at all. Results: After playing Gear's for about an hour (god this game rocks so hard, 3rd time playing though it), i found the air playing out of the back of the system is indeed cooler then what my system was yesterday. Last night i found the the back was hot to the touch (not hot enough to take my hand away but it was hot), Now its still hot but the amount of heat has been reduced a small amount. (wish i has a heat gun) But i can feel way more air going into the system now. Also the side of the 360 (side with the mother board) is not hot, its barly warm to the touch. Before extended the feet, i found it to was very warm so this is a +. I'll check back in if i go for a longer play time. This is after testing both ways.
